There’s a wide range of people who choose to be realtors for a variety of reasons, and everyone goes about it in their own unique way. Folks may not think about all that goes into being a realtor, so here’s a peek into what I do and why I do it. In addition to donating financially to causes and people I believe in, my work as a realtor is my service. We are all one. This is the reason for my service. Because you are me and I am you and if I can lift you up, we are all lifted.
The intention I bring to my work is to assist people with compassion through one of the most intense transitions of their lives. Moving our lives is a big deal, and it can cause lots of emotions to stir and feelings to surface. Sometimes it’s after a death and having to go through our loved one’s things is heart-wrenching. Sometimes it’s to be closer to family for our health, and we’re conflicted about leaving what we thought was our forever home. Packing up is mentally and physically exhausting. Making the decisions to keep or get rid of things can make us question who we are and take a step toward who we want to become. It’s all a chance to make peace with letting go and become lighter and freer if you choose. I try to assist logistically and emotionally toward that end when I can.
So aside from the pricing, negotiations, showings, staging, and staying on top of contract deadlines, this is my work. Whether I’m working with a friend or a referral, the emotional aspect of the transition is a big part of my focus. I want you to know some of us bring more to this job than paperwork and signs. Choosing a realtor you trust to be in the trenches with you through one of the biggest transitions of your life is important. Whether it's me or someone else you trust, it's a partnership to rely on.
